Learning Plan 10 Part 4 Scoring Guide

"Joomla! is a free and open-source content management system (CMS) for publishing web content. Over the years Joomla! has won several awards. It is built on a model–view–controller web application framework that can be used independently of the CMS that allows you to build powerful online applications.

Joomla! is one of the most popular website software, thanks to its global community of developers and volunteers, who make sure the platform is user friendly, extendable, multilingual, accessible, responsive, search engine optimized and so much more " (The Joomla! Project, n.d.),

"WordPress is software designed for everyone, emphasizing accessibility, performance, security, and ease of use. We believe great software should work with minimum set up, so you can focus on sharing your story, product, or services freely. The basic WordPress software is simple and predictable so you can easily get started. It also offers powerful features for growth and success.

We believe in democratizing publishing and the freedoms that come with open source. Supporting this idea is a large community of people collaborating on and contributing to this project. The WordPress community is welcoming and inclusive. Our contributors’ passion drives the success of WordPress which, in turn, helps you reach your goals." ("Democratize publishing," n.d.).

Comparing the two

Both Joomla and WordPress have excellent website-building features. Installation in GoDaddy's cPanel may be used to set up either content management system. I immediately saw that WordPress is simpler to understand and become used to when comparing the two content management systems. You can install add-ons for each CMS to improve your website. Both Joomla and WordPress refer to them as extensions. Plugins and extensions both have the ability to add features that boost security, accessibility, and SEO. They can also build forms and backups.
For me, understanding Joomla was more difficult. To transform the blog's basic appearance into a more typical website, a lot of fiddling was necessary. You must link the articles to the main menu in order to create a new page. WordPress, however, merely requires you to click on add a new page under the pages menu. Overall, WordPress feels more professional. However, after learning Joomla, it may be just as productive and even seems to encourage more customization, whether with the actual files, global settings, or the settings for each post. The admin panels are another another distinction. Both employ side menus to access the various settings, pages, media, users, and tools; however, WordPress provides richer descriptions within the menus. To make sure I was utilizing the setting correctly, I found myself having to check various settings in Joomla. Both are excellent choices for creating websites, but Joomla is more suited to experienced users.
